While working very hard on my super awesome showreel which ~
Zeiphex can attest to, I was looking for a keygen when I finally found something that looked promising. After having just updated to the latest AV signatures I was confident that everything would be fine, I mean my AV had never let me down before.
So after running the thing and realising it didn't work I quickly deleted it and carried on my search, then something popped up from my AV "virut!HOSTS" something or other detected within my system restore point folder, and CLEANED! so what ever right? Two days later after having to reboot I get asked to login to my windows, WTF? Never needed to login before, so what the hell, I log in and as I see my wallpaper I get logged straight back out. I didn't know whether to cry or punch my monitor in it's face.
I'm sure you all know that feeling when all your work and media about to be lost, I'd imagine it's like seeing your child fall into the crocodile pit at the zoo. So I got Sophos on a cd booted into safemode with command prompt and scanned, 44hours 11min and 33sec later 461127 file were scanned containing 4212 viruses (Scribble-B) which is pretty gay.
Boot up again still getting logged out :/ Install windows to a 10gig partition browse my C:\ and notice 99% of all my exes are deleted because sophos was too lazy to clean them..
Eventually like 2 days later I findout my userinit file was missing from my original windows so copy paste it over from new windows and voila! I can login again

But taskmanager revieled 1.6gigs of ram being used just on startup and my DU meter packing a heavy upload rate I decided it wasn't worth the effort of fixing since all my exes were gone anyway.
So back to the new windows, bootup as it gets to the loading screen my pc just reboots, 3 times..
So I'm over this shit now seriously, put it in my dads car so he take it in somewhere the next day when my friend phones me, the same friend who bought me a new router just so I could play games with him online better. He asks how things are going when I explained my predicament to him. Turns out his company had the same virus problem which caused a total downtime of 2 weeks while they had to format every machine. So plan of action was to format my 500gig drive which all my games, movies and series are on, make a partition, install windows on it update AV etc then grab only my work and music off my original 200gig drive and format it aswell.
I'm half way done with all this rubbish now and I can tell you one thing, I hope the guy who coded this thing dies by impalement on a rusty pole up his rear end.
